Reflection on my classes
My experience taking classes at WNCC has been great. The classes I have been taking are the requirements for my associate's degree in Elementary. In the past, I have taken Children's Literature, American History, Intro to Exceptionalities, Art, and much more.
For example, in Children's Literature, my takeaway was learning how to create my own elementary book. I learned how to develop my own story, create illustrations, and bind the book. Learning about all the different genres of books helped me to know which books to introduce in my future classroom. Additionally, American History involved understanding civil rights leaders and the struggles they experienced. I also explored the Civil War and the trauma faced by soldiers during that time.
Moving on, the takeaway from Intro to Exceptionalities is learning about various disabilities and discovering strategies to help children who have disabilities in schools.
Lastly, my takeaway for Art is learning about different grade-level projects that children can do in the classroom. That fits with the curriculum and what children will enjoy and learn at the same time.
Overall, my experience has been great taking my classes at WNCC, and I have learned a lot from past classes that can be applied to my future classroom.
